We are looking forward to winning the fight for Alzheimer’s together on March 23rd when we raise
our hands to pledge our support, knowing every $10,000 donation will provide 10 families with the
support they need each year to battle this disease. Together we can make a difference and
continue the fight for charities.
EVERY $10,000 RAISED PROVIDES SUPPORT TO 10 ALZHEIMER’S AND DEMENTIA
FAMILIES FOR ONE YEAR!
The Alzheimer’s and Memory Disorders Program at Barrow Neurological Institute sees 3,500
patients each year. It costs an average of $10,000 per year to provide caregiver and patient
support services for 10 families dealing with the challenges of Alzheimer’s and dementia. This
includes medical assistants, nurses, program coordinators, patient outreach groups, and a full-
time social worker. In addition, telemedicine can reduce disruptions caused by trips to and from
the clinic, and dedicated support teams will ease the burdens on caregivers while patients are in
ABOUT CAREGIVERS FOR ALZHEIMER’S
Though helping a patient can be a profound and moving journey, caregivers’ needs are often
overlooked. They may suffer stress, guilt, anger, sadness, isolation and burnout. The health care
system focuses on patients, so their caregivers too often slip by unnoticed until it is too late.
Sadly, caregiver support is not covered by insurance plans. We ask for your support so Barrow
can continue to hold the hands of these unsung and unpaid heroes.
Barrow seeks to push the boundaries of care to include those on the frontlines: the sons and
daughters, sisters and brothers, husbands, wives and loved ones who care for these patients
day-in and day-out. Help us support caregivers and the patients that they love. It’s time to say
goodbye to “Diagnose and Adios” where families are sent home from their appointments with no
further offer of support through this trying time.
